For a booking record or potentially releasable booking photograph, send the Sheriff a specific written request. Identify the person, approximate booking date, arresting agency if known, and the exact record sought. The County’s FOIA page identifies the Sheriff as a separate elected-official route. Ask the custodian for a release determination and a written cost estimate. A dedicated records email, published office hours for booking-record requests, and an individual photo fee were not confirmed in the County material.

For a current local-custody question, contact the detention center. The County page identifies the center but does not provide a working public inmate-search destination, published hours for record requests, or a public booking-photo price.
Use the channel that matches the record question:
- Sheriff and detention: the Sheriff’s Office for a written booking-record request, and the detention center for current local custody information.
- Local court record: the official Cherokee Public Index for filed-case information and later case status. A court entry is not a real-time custody or warrant confirmation.
- State-prison custody: the official South Carolina Department of Corrections public search for people currently sentenced and incarcerated with SCDC. It is not a Cherokee County jail roster.
- SCDC record or image request: use SCDC’s legal-information route and include an SCDC ID when known. That process does not retrieve a county booking photograph.
